Who we serve
Excavation, landscaping, and snow removal. That's the list.
Three industries and twelve trades inside them. If your operation is a mix, which in Colorado it usually is, the policy gets built around the whole thing.
Three industries
Start with the one that pays the bills.
-
Excavation
Dirt work in all its forms: septic, grading and site prep, utility trenching, demolition, hauling, land clearing. The 811 rules, the XCU exclusion, and equipment values at elevation decide most of the policy.
Excavation insurance in Colorado -
Landscaping
Design-build, hardscape, irrigation, maintenance crews, tree work. No state license, but city rules, the pesticide applicator insurance requirement, and HOA certificate norms shape the program.
Landscaping insurance in Colorado -
Snow removal
Commercial lots, HOAs, residential routes, national snow-management subcontracts. Slip-and-fall claims, service logs, plow trucks on the wrong auto policy, and the Colorado indemnity statute.

EXCAVATION TRADESeptic installers
The tank is in, the county signed off, and the customer paid. Your exposure on that system runs for years after that. Here's what a septic installer's policy has to do in Colorado, and where the standard forms fall short. Septic Installer insurance -
EXCAVATION TRADEGrading and site prep
A pad that drains the wrong way, a wall that bulges after a wet spring, silt in the neighbor's yard after a July storm. Grading claims show up late and argue about who was at fault. Here's what the policy has to do. Grading and Site Prep insurance -
EXCAVATION TRADEUtility trenching
You hit a gas line. Here's who pays, and what your policy has to say for the carrier to be in the conversation. Trenching is the excavation trade where the law, the locate ticket, and the GL form all show up on the same claim. Utility Trenching insurance -
EXCAVATION TRADEDemolition contractors
Demolition is excavation with the building still in the way. The underwriter rates it higher, the neighbor's wall is always closer than it looks, and the material you're tearing out may be the claim. Here's what the policy has to do. Demolition Contractor insurance -
EXCAVATION TRADEDump truck and aggregate hauling
A loaded Mack dump truck is the most expensive thing most dirt outfits put on a public road. Whether it hauls your own material or someone else's for a fee changes the whole policy. Here's where that line sits in Colorado, and what the truck, the load, and the driver each need. Dump Truck and Aggregate Hauling insurance -
EXCAVATION TRADELand clearing and forestry mulching
A tracked forestry mulcher is a diesel engine and a spinning drum in a stand of dry lodgepole. Fire is the claim underwriters think about first, and it is not always the claim your policy was written for. Here's what a clearing outfit's coverage has to do in Colorado, from the machine to the land it works on. Land Clearing and Forestry Mulching insurance

LANDSCAPING TRADEHardscape and paver installers
A retaining wall is the one thing a landscaper builds that can hurt somebody three years after the final payment. Pavers heave, walls lean, and the block stacked on the driveway belongs to you until the owner signs. Here's what a hardscape outfit's policy has to do in Colorado. Hardscape and Paver Installer insurance -
LANDSCAPING TRADEIrrigation contractors
Irrigation is the landscaping trade that puts water under pressure next to somebody's foundation. Most of your claims are water where it shouldn't be, and the argument is always about which part was your work and which part was the house. Here's how a Colorado irrigation policy has to be built. Irrigation Contractor insurance -
LANDSCAPING TRADELawn care and maintenance
Maintenance is the landscaping trade with the most claims per dollar of revenue. Not the biggest claims. The most. Here's what a Colorado lawn care policy has to catch, from rock-throw to the plow you put on the same truck in November. Lawn Care and Maintenance insurance -
LANDSCAPING TRADETree service
Tree work is the landscaping trade carriers are most careful with, and the one landscapers most often do without telling anyone. Here's what a Colorado tree service policy has to cover, and why the honest answer starts with whether a carrier will write it at all. Tree Service insurance

SNOW TRADECommercial snow and ice management
Commercial snow is a contract business first and a plowing business second. The lot, the log, and the indemnity clause decide the claim. Here's what a Colorado commercial snow and ice policy has to do, from an agency that runs a pusher box on commercial lots above 9,000 feet. Commercial Snow and Ice Management insurance -
SNOW TRADEResidential and HOA snow plowing
Most residential plowing in Colorado starts with a pickup, a blade, and a personal auto policy that was never told. Here's what an HOA and driveway plowing policy has to do, from an agency that plows driveways above 9,000 feet in the dark. Residential and HOA Snow Plowing insurance
Who we turn away
We say no to a lot. Restaurants, trucking-only outfits, general contractors who never touch dirt. Not because they're bad risks, but because the reason to call us is that we've run the equipment and signed the contracts. Above is what that covers.
The seasonal combo operator
Landscape and hardscape from April to October, plow from November to March. That's a huge share of Colorado's small contractors, and it's a specific insurance problem: the general liability was written for a landscaper, the trucks are on a personal auto policy because they're pickups, and the snow contracts have indemnity language nobody read. We write the whole year as one operation. Start on the snow page for the winter half and the landscaping page for the summer half; both talk about the other.
